"Fresh Getaway Horses"
By L.D. Edgar

On November 1, 1904 a robbery took place at the First National Bank in Cody, Wyoming, resulting in the murder of cashier, I.O. Middaughn.  During the ensuing chase, the posse was thwarted by gunfire, wounding one horse.  After the chase, the posse rode to a canyon where they found two spent horses.  The desperados were never caught.
